Carol's Page

Carol Curry received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art with an emphasis in photography then went on to do graduate work at the San Francisco Art Institute. Her passion is photographing people in their natural environments—particularly in social situations. Her thesis was a photo documentary on “sororities” which led to a more broad body of work consisting of beauty pageants, parties, and women interacting in their everyday lives with their circles of friends.

Carol has been shooting weddings with Eric Powell Photography since Spring 2001 and enjoys all aspects of wedding photography. “Weddings are so similar to what I focused on in my graduate and undergraduate work -- women interacting with their closest friends, social situations, etc., that I feel very connected to this work and to the clients with whom I get to know. It was a natural transition for me to begin shooting weddings.”

In addition to wedding photography, Carol spends her time shooting Fashion for magazines and advertising. She believes that one must explore many types of photography, as well as many styles, to keep a precise perspective on the situation at hand. “If I only focused on one genre of photography, I would feel like I was not learning all that is possible for such a broad art form. For me, I like to experiment with lighting, backgrounds, locations, etc. This ultimately teaches me and inspires me so that I can apply new techniques to my wedding photography.”
